Four Firearms And More Than €131,500 In Suspected Drugs Seized In Limerick
Gardaí attached to the Limerick Divisional Drugs Unit, assisted by other regional and local units, conducted an operation in Limerick city on Tuesday 22 September 2026 as part of investigations into the sale and supply of drugs in the region.
A domestic residence was searched under warrant, resulting in the seizure of four firearms, ammunition, suspected cannabis edibles with an estimated value of over €127,000, suspected cocaine valued at approximately €4,500, and a quantity of cash.
The firearms seized will be subject to further technical analysis, and the suspected drugs will be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.
A man in his 60s was arrested and taken to a Garda station in Limerick city. He is currently being detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.
Investigations are ongoing.
The firearms seized will be subject to further technical analysis, and the suspected drugs will be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.

Minimum Age For E-Scooter Use Raised To 18 From 2 October
Minister for Transport Darragh O'Brien and Minister of State with responsibility for Road Safety Seán Canney have signed regulations increasing the minimum legal age for e-scooter riders from 16 to 18. The measure takes effect on 2 October 2026. At the same time, the government has doubled charges for the detention and storage of seized e-scooters.
