Gardaí Renew Witness Appeal After Fatal Three-Vehicle Crash On R132 In Meath
Gardaí are appealing for information following a serious three-vehicle road traffic collision on the R132 at Smithstown, Julianstown, County Meath, shortly after 2am on Saturday 15 August 2026.
A man aged in his 50s was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, with serious injuries and was pronounced dead on Friday 4 September 2026.
A Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has been appointed to support the deceased man's family.
Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carried out a technical examination of the scene.
A Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) has been appointed to lead the inquiry.
Anyone who witnessed the collision is urged to come forward.
Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and who were travelling on the R132 near Smithstown, Julianstown, between 1.30am and 2.30am on Saturday 15 August 2026 are asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Ashbourne Garda Station on (01) 801 0600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.

The Holmatro tools and associated kit are designed to support crews at road traffic incidents and a range of other rescue scenarios, and will phase out older petrol pump-driven systems used by all seven Clare Fire Brigades.
