Gardaí Appeal After Serious Hit-and-Run Collision in Dublin 9
Gardaí and emergency services are appealing for witnesses following a serious hit-and-run road traffic collision on Shangan Road, Dublin 9, on Tuesday morning, 9th June 2026.
The incident, which took place at approximately 7.45am, involved a car and a male pedal cyclist. The cyclist, a man in his 20s, sustained serious injuries and was transported from the scene to the Mater Misericordiae Hospital for treatment.
The vehicle involved failed to remain at the scene. The road has been closed to traffic to allow local Crime Scene Investigators to carry out a technical examination of the site, and local diversions have been put in place.
Investigating Gardaí are urging anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them. Additionally, road users who were in the area at the time and may have camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, are asked to make this available to the investigation team.

There has been a litany of fatal road accidents across Ireland with a man aged in his 60s being killed following a crash in Co Tyrone. The PSNI Police were called to the scene of the incident on the Gorticashel Road, Mountfield, outside Omagh, shortly after 4.30pm yesterday. They were responding to a report that a tractor had left the road.

Two Dead In Separate Crashes
A man and woman have both died in separate road traffic collisions over the weekend. In the first of the two incidents, a male driver died in Corascashel, Dowra, Co Cavan approximately 2.5miles outside Dowra on the Dowra to Glangevlin Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and was the only occupant of the car.

A man has been arrested after fleeing from the scene of a fatal accident on County Cork in the early hours of this morning. Two men in their 20s were killed in a head on collision of two vehicles at approximately 2.45am this morning on the N25 at Caherulton, Castlemartyr, County Cork.
