Gardaí Renew Witness Appeal Following Fatal Incident on Henry Street
Gardaí are continuing to appeal for public assistance as they investigate the death of Yves Sakila, following an incident on Henry Street in Dublin 1 on Friday 15th May 2026.
The incident occurred shortly after 5:00pm, and detectives are now particularly keen to speak with anyone who was on Henry Street, between Moore Street and Coles Lane, between 5:00pm and 5:25pm on that afternoon. The Office of the State Pathologist has completed a post-mortem examination, though the results are currently being withheld for operational reasons. While officers have already recovered both CCTV and social media footage of the event, they still require witnesses to help build a complete picture of what happened.
A Senior Investigative Officer (SIO) from the Serious Crime Unit at Store Street is leading the case, and a dedicated incident room has been set up at Store Street Garda Station. A Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has also been assigned to support Mr Sakila's family, while officers remain in contact with a man in his 80s who sustained injuries during the same incident.
Anyone who has information, or who was in the area at the time, is asked to contact Store Street Garda Station on 01 666 8000, the Garda Confidential Line, or any Garda station.
