Man Arrested And Heroin Seized In Co Cork

A man, aged in his 30s, has been arrested in connection with the seizure of approximately €53,000 worth of suspected heroin in Grenagh, Co. Cork.

Shortly before 3pm on Wednesday 26 February, Gardaí from the divisional drugs unit in the Cork city, with the assistance of the southern region dog unit and Gardaí from Blarney, executed a search warrant at a house in the Grenagh area.

During the course of the search, Garda dog Rex located €53,000 worth of suspected heroin on the property. The suspected drugs will now be sent for analysis

A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and brought to Gurranabraher Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

Gardaí Seize Suspected Explosives In Co Meath
Gardaí have seized suspected explosives in Co Meath as part of an operation targeting the activities of dissident republicans. Officers seized the materials when they stopped two cars on the N52 on Tuesday. Two men were arrested at the scene. A third man was arrested during a following up investigation.

Gardaí Seized Drugs Worth Estimated €5m
Gardaí in Dublin have seized drugs worth an estimated €5m. The Clondalkin Detective and Drugs Units uncovered heroin and cocaine during a search of premises at the Bluebell Industrial Estate on Tuesday. Gardaí said they seized 32.5kg of suspected heroin and half a kilogram of suspected cocaine. The drugs are still to be forensically tested.

Third Irish National Charged With Drugs And Firearms Offences In The UK
A 52-year-old Irish man has been charged with drugs and firearms offences by the United Kingdom's National Crime Agency officers as part of an ongoing investigation undertaken with the cooperation of Gardaí. Two other Irish nationals (males aged 37 and 41) were previously charged in connection with the same investigation.
