Man & Two Children Airlifted To Hospital After Rescue

A man and two children have been airlifted to hospital after they got into difficulty while swimming in County Kerry.

The Coast Guard was tasked to Derrynanne at around 12.20pm on Sunday afternoon, 18 August, following reports that a man and two children had been swept out to sea.

Lifeguards on duty at the beach raised the alarm, prompting a coordinated rescue operation by the Coast Guard's marine rescue centre on Valentia Island.

The lifeguards managed to get the two children ashore, while a man was left stranded on offshore rocks. The man and two children received treatment from paramedics at the scene before being airlifted to hospital.
