'Hazardous Substance' Incident In County Clare Ongoing

Emergency services are currently dealing with a suspected chemical incident at a leisure centre in County Clare.

The alarm was raised at around 6.30am this morning, 18 February, when an automatic fire alarm went off at the River Lodge Health and Fitness Centre on the Gort Road in Ennis.

As fire crews responded, it emerged they could be dealing with a possible chemical incident.

Additional resources were mobilised to the scene, along with ambulance paramedics and gardaí.

The alert is ongoing.

A full investigation is expected to take place after the area is secured.

While the leisure centre is closely located to a hotel, supermarket and residential properties, nobody has been evacuated.

Dublin Street Closed In Chemical Incident
Granby Row in Dublin has been re-opened following a chemical incident at a Salvation Army Centre. According to reports chemicals were mixed and gave off fumes at the centre in Dublin's city centre. No one was injured in the incident. Three fire engines and a decontamination unit attended the scene, which has now been dealt with.

Shooting Incident At Shopping Centre In Finglas
An appeal for information has been made by Gardaí following a shooting incident at a shopping centre in Finglas on Saturday, 09 April. The incident occurred in the car park of the Charlestown Shopping centre, near the fast food outlets, at around 6.15pm. No-one was injured in the shooting.
