Man Killed In Fatal Collision On North City Link Road

Gardai in Watercourse Road have issued an appeal for information following a fatal road traffic collision this morning.

At approximately 10am this morning, Wednesday 17 October, a male pedestrian, aged in his 30s, was struck by a truck on the North City Link Road close to the Assumption Road Junction.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was uninjured.

The stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place. Motorists are advised to avoid the North City Link Road at Blackpool.

Two Arrested In Connection With Dean Johnson Murder

In the latest disappearance, Gardaí at Sundrive Road, Dublin, said they are seeking the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 62-year-old Pauline Behan from Rafters Road, Dublin. Pauline was last seen at 4pm on Monday.

A woman has reportedly been arrested following the seizure of drugs worth more than €100,000 in Limerick. The woman, who is understood to be in her 20s, was arrested following the seizure of heroin and cocaine in the south side of the city on Wednesday afternoon. A man has been arrested after Gardaí seized cocaine with an estimated street value of €280,000 in Dublin on Thursday night. Gardaí found 4kg of the drug when they stopped a car on the Malahide Road shortly before 6:30pm yesterday evening. A man in his 30s has been arrested and is being held at Raheny Garda Station.

Stabbing In Limerick
A man has been stabbed in Limerick. The 21-year-old was found, suffering from a stab wound to the stomach, in Clarina Park in Ballincurra Weston, just after 1am on Wednesday morning. Gardaí said that the man was critically wounded in the attack, but was taken to hospital where he is now reported to be in a stable condition.

A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a man in Dublin last week. The body of Kevin Molloy was found at his home in Glendhu Road in Cabra, Dublin, on Sunday 01 February. Investigating garda said they believed Mr Molloy's body had laid undiscovered for some time.

Limerick Tunnel Opens
Taoiseach Brian Cowen will open the long awaited Limerick Tunnel today at 1pm. The route now cuts under the River Shannon and links Coonagh on the northern bank with Bunlicky on the southern bank. There are two toll plazas located on the north side of the river and it will cost €1.

Three Arrested In Connection with €100,000 Theft
Gardaí have arrested three people in connection with the theft of more than €100,000 in Co Cork at the weekend. Thieves broke into a house in the Kanturk area sometime between 14.00 on Sunday and 10.00 on Monday. The owner of the house, a man in his late 70s, was out at the time of the raid.
