Elderly Man Killed In Loughrea Car Crash
A 77-year-old man has died after his car collided with a steel barrier in Loughrea, Galway.
The incident occurred on Barrack Street at around 8am on Tuesday, 06 February.
The victim, who was driving the car, was assisted from the vehicle by passer-bys who performed CPR.
He was then taken by ambulance to Portiuncla Hospital in Ballinasloe where he was later pronounced dead. No one else was injured in the collision.
Gardaí in Loughrea are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 091 842870, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

Man Dies In Shooting Incident
A 21-year-old man who was shot in Bunratty, Co Clare, died yesterday in hospital. Two men are still being questioned over the attack at the Bunratty Castle Hotel car park, and are being detained at Mayfield and Gurranabraher Garda Stations.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a fatal single vehicle road accident on the N65 on Friday. A man aged in his 80s was fatally injured when the car he was driving left the road and collided with a tree at about 16:10 at Ballydoogan on the N65 Loughrea to Portumna Road.

A 51-year-old man was been killed on Thursday evening in a road crash in Co Galway. A car hit the as-yet-unidentified pedestrian at Kylebrack East, Loughrea, at approximately 9pm. He was taken to Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Man Dies In Limerick Collision
A man has died in a crash in Co Limerick. The car veered off the road and hit a ditch at Dromsallagh at around 4.15am on Sunday, 05 June. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man is currently being treated for his injuries at the University Hospital Limerick. The road has been re-opened.
