Revenue Officers Seize 13kg Of Cannabis At Dublin Airport

Up to 13kg of herbal cannabis has been seized by Revenue Officers at Dublin Airport.

The drugs, which have an estimated value of €260,000, were found inside the checked-in baggage of a Malaysian man on 28 September.

The suspect, who is in his 30s, had arrived on a flight from Madrid.

Investigations are ongoing with a view to prosecution.

Elsewhere, up to 4.5kg of tobacco has been seized during a house search by Revenue Officers in Cork.

In an intelligence-led operation involving detector dog Harvey, Officers executed a search under warrant of a house in the Mayfield area on 28 September.

During the operation the unstamped, roll your own 'Amber Leaf' tobacco, which is valued at €2,000, was uncovered.

A UK national in his 50s was questioned and a file was prepared for the DPP.

25,000 Cigarettes Seized In Co Cork
Revenue Officers in Cork have seized 25,000 cigarettes following a search operation at a house in Macroom. The cigarettes, branded 'Marlboro', 'L&M', 'Mayfair' and 'Che', have a retail value in excess of €13,000, representing a loss of around €10,400 to the Exchequer.

Revenue officers seized €20,000 in cash from a couple who landed in Knock airport having returned from Lanzarote. The can was concealed in items of clothing and carry-on luggage. The cash was seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act and investigations are continuing.

Cigarettes And Tobacco Seized In North Cork
Revenue officers have seized 8,000 cigarettes and 26.5kg of rolling tobacco during a search at a house on the north side of Cork city. The 'Excellence'-branded cigarettes and 'Flandria'-branded tobacco have a retail value in excess of €16,855, representing a loss to the Exchequer of approximately €13,300.

Tobacco Worth More Than €1m Seized At Rosslare Europort
Revenue Officers have seized tobacco with an estimated value of more than €1 million at Rosslare Europort, Co Wexford. More than two tonnes of tobacco was uncovered when revenue officers stopped and searched a Polish-registered truck that was arriving from Cherbourg in France.

Over 900,000 Cigarettes Seized In Three Customs Service Operations
Revenue's Customs Service have seized 900,000 cigarettes at Dublin Port as a result of routine profiling. On Wednesday, 12 October, the cigarettes were detected, with the help of detector dog Casey, in five pallets which were marked as 'catering equipment' and had arrived into Dublin from the Netherlands.
