Death Of A Man In Skibbereen Being Treated As Murder

Gardaí have confirmed the identity of a man's body found in Skibbereen, County Cork, on Monday 25 September as 51-year-old John Ustic.

Mr Ustic's death is now also officially being treated as murder, following the results of a post-mortem examination. Garda confirmed that the post-mortem revealed that Mr Ustic died from injuries resulting from an assault.

Gardai have appealed for any person who was in the High Street area of Skibbereen on Sunday, 24 September between 7.30pm and 10.30pm to contact Skibbereen Garda Station on 028-23088, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Garda Injured In Cork
A garda has been injured while on duty in Cork on Monday night. The sergeant has been treated in hospital but has been discharged. He was bringing a patient, aged in his 20s, to the Mercy University Hospital just after 6pm. The garda is based at Gurranabraher Garda Station.

Female Cyclist Dies In Cork Collision
A cyclist has been killed following a collision in west Cork. The woman was involved in a fatal crash with a car in Aghills, Skibbereen at around 1pm on Sunday 07 April. She is believed to have been in her late 40s and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car, a woman in her 50s, was uninjured.
