Gardaí Appeal For Information Following Serious Assault

Gardaí in Dublin have issued an appeal for information following an attempted robbery and a serious assault of a man at a newsagents in Finglas.

At approximately 8.15am on Saturday 18 March, two men entered the newsagents on Fitzmaurice Road and assaulted a male member of staff.

The staff member, aged in his 40s, received serious head injuries in the assault and continues to be treated at Beaumount Hospital.

The two men fled the scene in what is believed to be a white saloon type car heading in the direction of Glasilawn Road. Nothing was stolen in the incident. 

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the area between 8am and 8.20am, or has any information, to contact them at the incident room in Finglas on 01-6667500, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111, or any Garda station.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a knife attack in Cork city in the early hours of Sunday morning. It is understood that a 38-year-old man was stabbed three times outside a house at Croaghtamore Square in Glasheen, in the southside of the city, at about 01:30 on Sunday.
