Witness Appeal Following Armed Robbery In Kildare

Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses following an armed robbery in Athy, Co Kildare.

A man carrying a hand gun entered a shop in the Dunbrin area of Athy at around 4pm on Friday, 12 August.

After threatening staff and demanding money, he left the scene with a sum of cash. No one was injured during the incident.

During a follow up operation involving Gardaí from Athy, other local units and assistance from the Garda Air Support Unit, a 20-year-old man was arrested a short time later. He has been detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Newbridge Garda Station.

An imitation firearm and a sum of money were recovered.

Investigations are ongoing and further updates will follow.

Man Dies Following Stabbing Incident In Dublin
An investigation has launched after a man was stabbed to death in Balgaddy, Dublin, on Wednesday, 07 February. Gardai were called to the scene at Buirg an Rí Walk in Balgaddy, Lucan just after 10:20pm. They found a 52-year-old man with serious stab wounds and he was pronounced dead a short time later. A post-mortem is to be carried out.

Man Arrested Following Death Of A Man In Phoenix Park
A second man has been arrested in Dublin in connection with the murder of a man in the Phoenix Park on Friday. The man is currently being held at Finglas Garda Station. The victim is believed to have been attacked and set alight in a sleeping bag.

Man Arrested Following Fatal Stabbing
A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing in Dublin on Monday. Shane O'Connor was found on the street in Donaghmede at around 7am. He later died in hospital. A man is his 20s is being held at Coolock garda station.

Missing Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A missing 24-year-old man has been found "safe and well". Alex Sherwin had been reported missing on Sunday, with garda issuing a public appeal for assistance. No information on Mr Sherwin's whereabouts have been released, but garda said the investigation had now ended. They thanked the public for their help.
