Witness Appeal Following Serious Assault In Carrick-On-Shannon

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses following the serious assault of a 30-year-old in Carrick on Shannon on Sunday, 17 July.

Just before 4am Gardaí received a report that a male had been assaulted and was lying on the Main Street in Carrick on Shannon. When Gardaí arrived at the scene they found an unresponsive male lying on the road. The injured man was taken to Sligo University Hospital where his condition is described as critical.

It is believed the man was involved in an altercation with a group of people - both male and female - on the footpath on Main Street, near the junction of Bridge Street. Gardaí have interviewed a number of witnesses and viewed CCTV covering the area.

Gardaí in Carrick on Shannon are appealing for witnesses in particular anyone who may have picked up a group of people around 4am in that area of the town or anyone with any information to contact them on 071 9650510, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

Missing 25-Year-Old Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A 25-year-old man who was missing from Harcourt Street in Dublin has been found safe and well, Gardaí have reported. Simon Quinn was reported missing after last being seen at around 2.30am on Monday, 30 July. However, Mr Quinn has now been found and Gardaí said they wish to thank the media and public for their assistance.

Water Charge Protest Held At Gates Of The Dáil
Some 300 people gathered on Kildare Street near to the Dáil on Wednesday afternoon to protest the water charges. Six gardaí vans responded to the protest, with confrontations between officers and protesters.

Gardaí Appeal For Witness To Assault
Gardai are seeking witnesses to an alleged assault in Dublin, which took place in the early hours of Tuesday night. It is alleged that a female was assaulted by a male in his 30s at around 3.00am in the Hawkins Street area.
