Cannabis Plants Worth Over €400,000 Seized By Garda

Cannabis plants worth more than €400,000 have been seized in two separate operations in County Cavan and Meath.

As a result of an ongoing operation by Gardai from Baileboro, assisted by the Regional Support Unit into the sale and supply of controlled substances in the Cavan area, two premises were searched; one in Virginia, Co Cavan and the other at Ross, Co Meath. 

During the first search in Virginia, Co Cavan, Gardai discovered approximately €210,000 worth of cannabis plants. Three men – aged 28, 30 and 30 years – were arrested and detained at Cavan Garda station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.

One of the 30-year-old men was later released without charge. The other two men were charged and appeared before a special sitting of Cavan District Court on 19 March 2016.

During the second search in Ross, Gardai discovered approximately €200,000 worth of cannabis plants. A 24-year-old man was arrested and detained at Kells Garda station under the provisions of section of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.

Men Arrested Over Three Cannabis Seizures
Gardaí investigating three cannabis seizures in Co Offaly in the past week have arrested two men. Garda officers discovered cannabis plants worth an estimated €250,000 at a premises in Clonmore, Edenderry. This was followed by the seizure of cannabis plants worth an estimated €160,000 found in a vehicle near Tullamore on Thursday.

€200,000 Of Cannabis Plants Found In Co Cavan
Gardai have discovered cannabis plants, with a street value of approximately €200,000, at a premises in County Cavan on Tuesday night. Gardai discovered the drugs as part of an ongoing investigation against the supply and sale of drugs in the area. The plants were discovered at disused premises in Mullanwary. No arrests have been made.

Men Arrested Over Santry Cannabis Seizure
Cannabis worth an estimated €150,000 has been seized from a home in Larchill, Santry in Dublin, on Saturday. Gardaí arrested four men in connection with the find. They are due to appear in court on Monday.

Cannabis Plants Discovered In Co Cavan
Large quantities of cannabis plants have been discovered following a search of a house in Coothill, Co Cavan. Gardaí discovered over 1,300 cannabis plants being cultivated in a vacant property on Church Street at around 2pm yesterday. The plants have an estimated street value of €520,000.
