Investigation Launches Into Galway Burglary

Gardaí have launched an investigation after a couple were assaulted during a burglary in Co Galway.

The incident occurred around 7:30pm at Parkwest, Clonberne on Tuesday, 05 January.

It is understood a man and a woman in their 30s were returning home from work with their two children when three men entered their house and assaulted them.

The couple received non-life threatening injuries and the two children were unharmed.

The suspects took a sum of cash and mobile phones then left the house. It is unknown what direction they left the scene.

The burglars are described as being East European men, thinly built and were between 170 to 180 cm in height.

Anyone who may have seen anything unusual in the area from 7pm to 8 pm are asked to contact Gardaí.

An Irish tourist killed in Lanzarote has been named as Derek Cumiskey from Townsend Street in Dublin. Mr Cumiskey was on holiday with his sister and some friends when he was fatally assaulted yesterday.
