Experienced Divers Sought To Help In Body Search

West Cork Underwater Search and Rescue has appealed for experienced divers to help in the search for the body of Barry Davis Ryan.

My Ryan (20) was walking with a group of people close to the Beacon last Tuesday when a wave swept one of the group into the sea.

It is understood that two others, including Mr Ryan, had gone into the water to attempt a rescue, but had also gotten into difficulty.

Emergency services recovered the bodies of Niamh O'Connor and Barry Ryan senior, Mr Ryan's father.

Mr Ryan's body has not yet been recovered despite ongoing search efforts.

West Cork Underwater Search and Rescue said that they expected a 'weather window" on Thursday and Friday of this week, before it changes at the weekend.

Rescuers hope to carry out "a very detailed" search and have appealed for experienced divers that might be able to help to contact them.
