Alan Ryan's Brother Charged With IRA Membership

Vincent Ryan, brother of murdered dissident republican Alan Ryan, has been charged with membership of the IRA before a sitting of the Special Criminal Court.

The charges come following a major garda search operation was carried out after a military display at the funeral of Alan Ryan, which saw a volley of three shots fired in a salute as the coffin was carried from the family home at Donaghmede, Dublin to the church.

22-year-old Vincent Ryan, of Grange Avenue Drive, Donaghmede in Dublin 13, was charged with membership of an unlawful organisation styling itself the Irish Republican Army (IRA), otherwise Oglaigh na hEireann, under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

Alongside Ryan, also charged with the same offence on the same date was 33-year-old Nathan Kinsella and 23-year-old Darragh Evans.

The men were all arrested as part of a garda search and arrest operation which was carried out in dawn raids at locations across counties Dublin, Meath and Kildare and involved more than 200 personnel.
