Investigation Launched Into Dundalk Pipe Bomb Explosion

An investigation has been launched into an explosion in Dundalk in the early hours of Friday morning.

A pipe bomb exploded in the front garden of a house at about 02:15 this morning, leading to a number of houses being evacuated at Rockfield Manor.

Garda called an army bomb disposal team to examine the device.

The scene was declared safe at about 06:30.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Viable Explosive Device 'Made Safe'
A viable explosive device has been made safe in Co Cork. According to reports, a controlled explosion was carried out on the device on Friday (13 February). The object was discovered outside a house in the Knocknaheeney area at around 10am this morning. A number of nearby homes were evacuated and roads were closed.

Viable IED Found Under Car In South Dublin
A viable explosive device has been found under a car in south Dublin. According to the Irish Independent, a viable IED (improvised explosive device) was found under a car in the Glenshane area of Jobstown in Tallaght, south Dublin. The Army Bomb Disposal Team were called at around 21:25 and a number of residents evacuated from their homes.

Viable Explosive Device Made Safe In Cork
The Army Bomb Disposal Team have made safe a Viable Improvised Explosive Device found near a pub in Mayfield, Cork. Residents in nearby properties had to be evacuated during the overnight incident. The team rendered the device safe without the need for a controlled explosion and the scene was declared safe at 4.30am.
