Weapons Recovered In Joint Garda And Army Operation

Gardaí have recovered a number of weapons in an operation targeting the activities of dissident republicans.

A handgun, a rifle, ammunition and components for other guns were found during a search in Raskeagh, outside Dundalk, Co Louth.

Garda were assisted by the Army Bomb Disposal Unit during the operation, with all recovered weapons taken to Curragh army camp to undergo ballistic tests.

No arrests were made during the operation.

Firearms Recovered During Vehicle Searches In Finglas
Firearms have been recovered during a garda operation in Finglas. Led by the K-Community Action Team, garda made the discovery during the search of two parked cars as part of an ongoing policing operations targeting criminality in the area. The weapons recovered include a single barrel sawn-off shotgun and a .22 pistol.

Four Arrested Over Dissident Republican Activity
Four men have been arrested over dissident republican activity. Members of An Garda Siochana from the Special Detective Unit carried out 20 searches in Counties Louth, Dublin and Wexford on Wednesday. All of the men are currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against Act at various Garda Stations in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.

Phones, Drugs And Weapons Recovered In Prison Search
Prison officers at Mountjoy Prison have recovered weapons, drugs and mobile phones during an early morning search of cells. Officers carried out a search operation at the prison's C wing at 7am on Tuesday morning. The operation recovered fourteen mobile phones, a small number of homemade weapons and quantities of heroin, cocaine and tablets.

Viable Explosive Device Made Safe In Co Kildare
A viable explosive device has been made safe during a security operation in Co Kildare. Gardaí responded to a report of a suspect device in Leixlip on Monday night. Army bomb disposal experts examined the device and declared it 'viable'. The device was made safe just after midnight.
