Second Man Shot At His Dublin Home

A man has been shot at his home in Dublin in what garda believe is the second case of mistaken identity this week.

A man aged in his 50s, was shot twice at about 22:00 on Monday night. It is understood that two men knocked at the door of the man's home on Redford Park before shooting the man in the abdomen and arm.

The victim is said to be in a stable condition in hospital.

Garda said that currently there is "no known reason" the man was targeted.

The shooting follows a similar incident in Walkinstown, in which 64-year-old Edward Nugent was shot dead through his front door on Sunday night.

Garda said that in both cases they are working to establish a motive for the attacks and think both may have been a case of mistaken identity.
