Firearm Seized Following Reports Of Gunfire

A firearm has been seized, alongside ammunition and a knife, in Ballyfermot Parade in Dublin.

A man, aged 47, was also arrested during the incident which occurred on Thursday (5 February) at around 11pm.

Two gardaí from the Ballyfermot Community Police Unit were responding to a report of gun shots being fired in the Kylemore Park area. The officers approached the man at Ballyfermot Parade and following a struggle, managed to disarm him. He was then arrested and is being detained at Ballyfermot Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended.

An investigation is ongoing.

Man Arrested After Shots Fired At Property In Dublin
A man has been arrested after shots were fired at a property in Dublin on Friday morning. Three men are believed have targeted the house on Oranmore Road in Ballyfermot at approximately 10am. A firearm was also recovered from the scene of the attack. The man is being detained at Ballyfermot Garda Station.

One Arrested, One Freed Over Cannon Murder
A man has been released just as another was being arrested as part of the oingoing investigation into the murder of Anthony Captain, last June. The released man is in his 30's and Gardaí have said a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
