Man Held Over Westmeath Hit-And-Run
Gardaí have arrested a man aged in his 20s in connection with a hit-and-run in Westmeath on Tuesday.
A 38-year-old man was left seriously injured after being hit by a car at about 15:00 at Magheraboy Upper in Westmeath.
Garda confirmed they are holding a man in connection with the incident. A car was also seized and will undergo a technical examination.
Garda are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident involving a dark coloured saloon car.
Anyone with information about the collision should contact the Cavan Garda Station on 049 4368800.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a drug seizure in Co Westmeath. Gardai from the Westmeath Divisional Drug Unit stopped a car near Kinnegad at approximately 7:30pm on Wednesday. Heroin worth an estimated €45,000 was discovered during a search of the vehicle.

Missing Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A missing 24-year-old man has been found "safe and well". Alex Sherwin had been reported missing on Sunday, with garda issuing a public appeal for assistance. No information on Mr Sherwin's whereabouts have been released, but garda said the investigation had now ended. They thanked the public for their help.

Elderly Man Seriously Injured After Assault In Cork
An elderly man has been taken to hospital after suffering serious injuries in an overnight attack in county Cork. The pensioner, a man in his 70s, received a punctured lung and other injuries when he was set upon in a car park in Sleaveen East in Macroom. A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and taken to Bandon Garda Station.

Man Dies In Shooting Incident
A 21-year-old man who was shot in Bunratty, Co Clare, died yesterday in hospital. Two men are still being questioned over the attack at the Bunratty Castle Hotel car park, and are being detained at Mayfield and Gurranabraher Garda Stations.

Man Dies In Stabbing Incident
A 30-year-old has died and a second man has been injured in a stabbing incident in Tullamore, Co Offaly, shortly after 7am this morning. It is believed there had been an argument in a house in the area and a Polish man was killed. The other man's injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
