Investigation Launched Into 'Tragic Domestic Incident'
Gardaí have launched an investigation into the deaths of a man and woman in Co Clare.
It is understood that a garda officer was at the scene of an electrical fire in the village of Kildysart when he noticed a distressed woman in the street.
As the officer approached the woman she collapsed. A child that had been with her then ran to a nearby apartment.
The officer followed the child and upon entering the apartment found a man, who had suffered a serious injury, at the top of the stairs.
Despite the efforts of emergency services, the 27-year-old woman and 44-year-old man were pronounced dead at the scene.
Garda have said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths but are treating them as a "tragic domestic incident".
It is understood that two children, aged two and three, were taken from the house and are being cared for.
Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses, particularly for anyone who may have been on Main Street, Kildysart between 6pm and 7.30pm to contact Kildysart Garda Station on 065-6832102, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666111 or any garda station.
