Co Wexford Family Sue Over Hollywood Movie

A Co Wexford family are suing 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and a number of production companies, claiming that an image of their late mother was used without permission.

The Purcell family claim that an image of their late mother, Stacia Purcell, was used in the horror film Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort.

The body of Ms Purcell (66) was found some days after she went missing on 30 October 2013. It is believed that she fell into a river after suffering a heart attack.

The family say that they issued a photo of Ms Purcell for use in the search operation to find their mother. They claim that that same image appeared in the film, without permission from the family.

They are suing 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, WT6 Productions and UFO Film and Television Studios Ltd (Bulgaria) and UFO International Productions (Los Angeles).

The case was due to begin at the High Court today but it is understood that it has been adjourned as both sides needed more time to exchange documents. It is due to appear again next next, according to a report by RTÉ.
