Shotgun Aimed At Irish Water Employee

A gun has been seized from a man, 65, after he pointed it at an Irish Water employee in County Louth, according to gardai.

The incident occurred at a property in Ardee after 9am on Tuesday.

A spokesman said that the worker was looking for a stop-com for the mains of the house.

A double-barrel shotgun is believed to have been aimed at the worker.

No shots were fired in the incident.

A file for the Director for Public Prosecutions is being prepared.

It is claimed that a large group of off-duty Garda officers where socialising in a pub in Limerick's city centre when the alleged incident took place.

Man Injured In Car Crash
A man has been injured in a crash outside Athlone. The single vehicle incident happened at approximately 6.50am this morning at Ballynahown. The drivers injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Gardai in Athlone are appealing to anyone with information to contact them on 090 649-8-550.

Man Charged With Wexford Man's Murder In Australia
An Irishman living in Australia has been charged with the murder of an Irish construction worker in Perth. Vincent Martin Crowe appeared in court over the death of Wexford man Kenny Meyler, who died after being stabbed in the neck in February. The incident happened in the Perth suburb of Scarborough.

Worker Killed In Steel Plant Accident
A man has been killed following an incident at a steel plant in Cork this morning. The 62-year-old worker died at around 9.30am after an accident at the Duggan Steel plant in Millstreet in North Cork. The Health and Safety Authority has said its inspectors are at the scene and has confirmed it has launched an investigation into the incident.
