Interim Water Treatment Plant For Castlerea 'Within Weeks'

A new interim water treatment plant is to bring to an end one of the country's longest running boil water notices.

Residents in Castlerea, Co Roscommon, have lived with a boil water notice for four years, following the discovery of the parasite, cryptosporidium.

Irish Water has announced a new interim water treatment facility will be operational for the rural scheme from November, with the wider urban scheme also covered from next May.

Described as a "fully effective water treatment plant", Irish Water say that the facility will be onsite "within weeks" and operating by November.
