New Search To Be Carried Out For Disappeared Brendan Megraw

A new search is set to get underway in Co Meath for the remains of Brendan Megraw, one of the Disappeared.

Mr Megraw, from West Belfast, was abducted, murdered and secretly buried by the IRA in April 1978. He was 23-years-old and newly married when he was taken.

A new search is to be carried out at Oristown bog, which has been described as "vast", by specialist forensic investigators.

Three previous searches of the bog have been unsuccessful.

Specialist forensic investigators have launched a new search for west Belfast monk Joe Lynsky, using radar equipment to scan sections of Oristown bog in Co Meath.

A new search for the remains of Brendan Megraw, one of the Disappeared, is underway in Oristown, Co Meath. Mr Megraw was 23-years-old when he was abducted by the IRA from his home in west Belfast in April 1978. Led by the Independent Commission for the Location of Victims' Remains, the new search will focus on a bog in Oristown, near Kells.

Major Search Operation Ongoing For Missing Jet-Skier
A major search operation is ongoing on Lough Ree in the Midlands after a woman went missing while jet-sking. The operation was launched on Sunday evening after a woman failed to return to shore at the lake, which borders Westmeath and Longford. Irish Coast Guard Helicopter, RNLI crews, civil defence and sub-aqua clubs are involved in the operation.

Six Due In Court Over Cannabis Find
A total of six men are to appear court this Thursday morning over the seizure of €200,000 worth of cannabis. The men are to appear at Sligo District Court charged with drugs and immigration offences at 10.30 a.m. A total of eight people were arrested in connection with the seizure on Tuesday.

A total of eight people have been arrested after a drug raid by Gardaí on a house in Leitrim. Officers arrested seven males and one female after the discovery of cannabis plants, which have an estimated street value of approximately €200,000 pending analysis.
