Minister For Finance Confirms Skin Cancer Treatment
Minister for Finance, Michael Noonan, as confirmed that he received treatment earlier this year for skin cancer.
In a statement released by Minister Noonan, he said: "In February 2014 I noticed a lump on my right arm in the shoulder area. On medical examination this was identified as a sarcoma which needed to be removed.
"During late March and April I received 5 weeks radiotherapy at St. Luke's Hospital to shrink the sarcoma. Last Wednesday 28 May the sarcoma was removed at Cappagh Hospital. I was discharged on Saturday 31 May.
"My medical team believe the treatment has gone very well and are upbeat about the prognosis. There is no damage to my shoulder muscle and my risk of recurrence is low.
"I wish to thank all of the staff at St. Lukes Hospital and Cappagh Hospital, and in particular my medical team. I will continue to serve as Minister for Finance at the Taoiseach's discretion."

Mother Of Children Found Dead In Dublin Arrested
Gardaí investigating the deaths of three children in West Dublin have arrested a woman on suspicion of murder. The bodies of Conor(9), Darragh(7) and Carla(3) McGinley were discovered at a house at Parson's Court in Newcastle village, northwest of Rathcoole, on Friday 24 January 2020. The woman, aged in her 40s, is the children's mother.

Gardaí are investigating a stabbing incident in Co Donegal, which left a man with a blade embedded in his side. According to reports, a man was walking on Port Road, Letterkenny, when he was "bumped into" by one of three "youths wearing hoodies".

Garda Officer Injured In Hit-And-Run
A garda officer has been injured in a hit-and-run incident in Ballina, Co Mayo. Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to the incident, involving to officers on foot patrol. It is understood that the officers tried to stop a car at about 18:00, however, the car failed to stop and one of the officers sustained minor injuries to his leg.
