Gardaí Appeal Over Suspected Hit And Run

Gardaí in County Louth have appealed for witnesses to a suspected hit and run over the weekend.

It comes after a 35-year-old man was found by a passer-by at the side of the road at around 4:40am in Carnlogue.

Keith Byrne, who lived in the area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem conducted on Sunday found that his injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

The incident is being treated as a hit and run. Gardaí are coordinating with the PSNI, as the road is often used by cars travelling to and from Northern Ireland.

Motorists who were travelling the road between 4.15am and 4.45am yesterday are asked to contact gardaí at Ardee Garda station at 041 6853222, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
