Two Men Die In Mallow Apartment Fire

Gardaí in Mallow have reported the deaths of two men in an apartment fire.

According to gardaí the fire at the Granary Court apartments on St Joseph's Road was reported just after midnight.

It is thought that there had been a birthday celebration in the apartment leading up to the fire.

A third man and a woman were rescued from the apartment. The third man is in hospital in a serious condition.

A post mortem examination is due to be carried out at Cork University Hospital.

A forensic examination of the scene is underway.

Elderly Man Dies In Galway House Fire
Gardaí in Co Galway have reported the death of a 73-year-old man in a house fire. Clifden fire service was called to the scene of a house fire at around 23:30 on Monday night. The man's body was discovered in the house, where he lived alone. The scene has been preserved pending a technical examination, due to be carried out this morning.

Man Dies Following Dublin Apartment Fire
An investigation has been launched into the cause of a fatal fire at an apartment complex in Dublin city centre. A man, aged in his 60s, has died in the Mater Hospital as a result of the fire. The fire happened at the building on Benburb Street at around 8.30pm on Tuesday, 01 January.

Man Further Remanded Over Dublin Apartment Fire
A 29-year-old man charged with torching the home of his ex-girlfriend in Dublin last weekend has been remanded in custody for a further two weeks. Last Sunday night several occupants of the house on the South Circular Road were rescued by garda using a ladder.
