HSA Investigation Underway Into Death Of Farmer

An investigation has been launched into the death of a farmer, killed in what has been described as a "tragic workplace accident".

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has launched an investigation into the death on a farm in Castledermot, Co kildare, at about 12:30am on Wednesday morning, according to a report by the Irish Independent.

It is understood that the farmer, who has not yet been named, suffered serious injuries after going out to check his livestock.

According to the report, the farmer, said to be in his 60s, returned to his house where his wife called an ambulance.

He died a short time later at Naas General Hospital.

The HSA have said that the exact details of the man's death are yet to be established but an investigation is underway.

GAA Player Dies In Training
A young GAA player has collapsed during training and died in a suspected case of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS). Ciaran Carr, 20, from Clondalkin, Co Dublin, died as he was training with his local Round Towers GAA Club on Friday evening. He was participating in an indoor circuit training session when he suddenly fell forward and collapsed.

Fresh Border Bomb Alert Ends
A security alert in Newry, the second in the city in two days, has ended. Police were investigating a suspicious object in the grounds of St Mary's Church, but said "nothing untoward" was found. Several homes had been evacuated due to a bomb alert in Newry - the second in 24 hours.
