New Interim Head Appointed To Limerick City Of Culture Project

Mike Fitzpatrick has been appointed as the interim head of the Limerick City of Culture project.

He will take over the post following the recent resignations of Chief Executive, Patricia Ryan, and artistic director Karl Wallace.

In a statement, Limerick Chamber said: "He has a wealth of international experience and an impeccable track record of driving art institutions, exhibitions, and galleries at a world class level."

Mr Fitzpatrick is currently the Head of the Limerick School of Art & Design.

Man Seriously Attacked In Co Limerick
An investigation has been launched after a man was seriously attacked in County Limerick on Monday. The incident occurred in Newcastle West at around 2.15am. The man suffered a serious head injury and is currently being treated in hospital. Gardai are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

Human Remains Confirmed As Missing Limerick Woman
Human remains found in Galway Bay on 29 November have been confirmed as those of missing Limerick woman, Maria Hennigar. The 35-year-old was reported missing on 22 November, although she had not been seen earlier that month.

Investigation Launched Following Bone Discovery In Co Clare
An investigation has been launched following the discovery of a bone in Co Clare. A bone was found on Thursday, 22 September, on the Shannon riverbank at Doonass, Clonlara, on the Clare-Limerick border. Gardaí were called to the scene and are understood to have examined and photographed the scene before the bone was removed.

Man Dies In Limerick Collision
A man has died in a crash in Co Limerick. The car veered off the road and hit a ditch at Dromsallagh at around 4.15am on Sunday, 05 June. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man is currently being treated for his injuries at the University Hospital Limerick. The road has been re-opened.

Limerick College Website Hacked By Group Claiming To Be ISIS
An investigation has been launched after a Limerick college's website was hacked by a group claiming to be from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The message on the website of Central College Limerick read: "THIS WEBSITE HAS BEEN HACKED BY THE ISLAMIC STATE IN SYRIA (ISIS)." "IRELAND EXPECT US".
