Air And Sea Search Resumed For Missing Fisherman

A search of the sea at Blackhead, Co Clare, has resumed for a fisherman who fell into the water on Sunday afternoon.

The coastguard at Doolin, the RNLI lifeboat from the Aran Islands and the Shannon-based rescue helicopter are carrying out an air and sea search for the missing man.

It is understood that two men were fishing from the rocky shore when one of them was swept in by a large wave.  

Sea conditions in the search area were said to be rough.

Search Resumes For Missing Fisherman
A search is to resume this morning for a fisherman who was swept into the sea in Co Clare last night (Sunday). According to reports, the man had been fishing with friends off the rocks at Ballyreen, near Fanore, in the county around 5.30pm. He was angling from the rocks when he was hit by a wave.

Major Search Operation Ongoing For Missing Jet-Skier
A major search operation is ongoing on Lough Ree in the Midlands after a woman went missing while jet-sking. The operation was launched on Sunday evening after a woman failed to return to shore at the lake, which borders Westmeath and Longford. Irish Coast Guard Helicopter, RNLI crews, civil defence and sub-aqua clubs are involved in the operation.

Six Due In Court Over Cannabis Find
A total of six men are to appear court this Thursday morning over the seizure of €200,000 worth of cannabis. The men are to appear at Sligo District Court charged with drugs and immigration offences at 10.30 a.m. A total of eight people were arrested in connection with the seizure on Tuesday.

Eight Held After Cannabis Seizure
A total of eight people have been arrested after a drug raid by Gardaí on a house in Leitrim. Officers arrested seven males and one female after the discovery of cannabis plants, which have an estimated street value of approximately €200,000 pending analysis.
