74-Year-Old Woman Dies In Co Longford Road Accident

Gardaí in Co Longford have reported the death of 74-year-old woman in a road crash.

It is understood that the woman was hit by a vehicle as she crossed the N4 at Lisnagrish near Edgeworthstown at around 19.45pm on Sunday night.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was removed to the Midland Regional Hospital Mullingar.

The road was closed for a forensic examination but has since re-opened.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact them at Granard Garda Station on 043 6687660, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any garda station.

Woman Dies After Being Hit By Car In Dublin
An elderly woman who was hit by a car in Dublin has died in hospital. The incident occurred on the Navan Road at around 8.15am on Sunday, 04 September. The driver of the car was arrested and taken to Finglas Garda Station. He has been released and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Gardaí Appeal For Witnesses To Cork Hit-And-Run
Gardaí in Cork have appealed for witnesses to a hit-and-run in Co Cork at about 19:30 on Tuesday. A 71-year-old woman is being treated in hospital after she was knocked off her bicycle at Haymount, Lower Woodstock in Carrigtwohill. Her injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening.

Shots Fired At House In Limerick City
Gardaí in Limerick have arrested two men in connection with a shooting in the city. It is understood that shots were fired at a house in the New Road area at about 20:00 on Tuesday night. A 22-year-old woman and two teenage boys who were in the house at the time, escaped without injury.

Man Arrested In Connection With Dublin Shooting Incident
Gardaí investigating a shooting incident outside a west Dublin school have made an arrest. A man, aged in his 20s, was arrested during the course of the search operation in Corduff. He has been detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939, where he can be held for up to 72 hours.

Man Arrested Over Gun And Ammunition Seizure
A 24-year-old man has been arrested in an operation targeting organised criminal gangs in the Crumlin area of Dublin. Gardaí from Sundrive Road Garda Station arrested the man on Tuesday, 12 July, shortly after 9pm when they stopped and searched a car and its occupant close to Old County Road and discovered a firearm and ammunition.
