Investigation Launched Into Fatal Stabbing At Dublin Home

An investigation has been launched into the the fatal stabbing of a man in Dublin on Monday afternoon.

The victim, understood to be John Maguire (51), was found with fatal stab wounds to his back and neck. He was attacked at his home in Ormond Square, according to Gardaí.

A neighbour discovered Mr Maguire's body when they noticed the front door of his house was left open.

Gardaí say there is no sign of a break-in and that nothing appears to have been stolen.

They are trying to identify anyone who may have called at the terraced house on Monday morning and have appealed for anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area to contact them.

Donegal House Fire Claims Two Lives
Two lives have been lost following the second fatal house fire in Ireland in the last week. Police said two people died when a fire tore through a home in County Donegal last night. It is believed the blaze broke out around 10pm at the Killygordon property on Cavan Lower. A Garda spokesman said two people were pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardai Investigate Fatal Stabbing
Gardai are appealing for information after a 22-year-old was fatally stabbed in Dublin on Monday morning. Shane O'Connor was discovered lying unconscious on St Donagh's Road in Donaghmede at around 7am yesterday. He died in hospital from his injuries. It is believed Mr O'Connor may have been lying injured for a number of hours.

Woman In Court Over Gareth Hutch Murder
A woman aged in her 40s has appeared in court charged in connection with the fatal shooting of Gareth Hutch. Mr Hutch was shot and killed in an incident at Avondale House Apartment complex, off Parnell Street on Tuesday, 24 May.

Man Held Over Fatal Stabbing
Gardaí investigating the fatal stabbing of a 32-year-old man in Tallaght, Dublin, have arrested a man who was at the scene of the suspected murder. It is understood that father-of-one James Humphries was fatally stabbed after a row broke out at a house in Kilaton Way at around 18:40 on Sunday evening.

Man Arrested Over Fatal House Fire Released Without Charge
A man arrested in connection with a fatal house fire in Dublin has been released without charge. A 44-year-old man died in the blaze which happened at a property on Oakland's Terrace, Rathgar, at around 3am on Tuesday, 21 August. It is understood the man had escaped from the fire before returning inside and suffered critical injuries.
