Two Die In Road Crashes

Two people have died in road accidents overnight in Co Clare and Co Westmeath.

A man, understood to be in his 20s, died when his car hit a wall on the Sixmilebridge Road to Shannon at around 4.30am. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick.

And on the old N6 in Co Westmeath a male motorcyclist died when he struck a tree and stone pillar in a single vehicle crash at around 19:45 on Monday night.

His body has been taken to Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore, where a full post-mortem examination will take place.

Woman, 82, Dies In Road Accident
An 82-year-old woman has died following a road accident in Donegal. The crash occurred at around 3.50pm on Monday (18 August) at The Ross in Bundoran. Gardaí have said a car collided with a fence in the incident. The woman was transferred to Sligo Hospital but later died from her injuries. Anyone with information is asked to contact Gardaí.

Man Charged Over Fatal Dublin Stabbing
A 20-year-old Dublin man has been charged in connection with the stabbing of Mark Spellman in Sandymount on Saturday morning. Dane Pearse from the Irishtown area of south Dublin has been charged at Dublin District Court with serious assault and possession of a weapon.

Fatal Road Traffic Collisions Probed
Two people have died after separate weekend road accidents in different parts of Ireland. A 77-year-old male driver - who was injured in a road traffic collision that occurred in Clondakin last Friday (18th September) - died yesterday at St James Hospital where he was being treated.

Man Attacked In Dublin
A man is being treated in hospital after being stabbed in Dublin on Sunday night. The 29-year-old man was taken to the Beaumount Hospital following the attack which happened on Glin Road, Coolock. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Gardai are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

Man Freed Over Waterford Stabbing
A man arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in Waterford at the weekend has been released without charge. Joseph Cummins, 21, from The Willows, Cairnwood in Tramore, was found suffering from stab wounds in a house in Lower Grange Road on Saturday. He was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital but died later.
