Turkish Trial Of Irish Women's Murder Adjourned

The trial of two men accused of murdering two Irish tourists in Turkey has been adjourned until 9 September.

A verdict in the trial of father and son, Eyup and Recep Cetin, had been expected today, but the men's lawyers requested the adjournment as two of the four judges presiding over the case had recently been replaced.

The pair are accused of murdering Marion Graham and Cathy Dinsmore, who where found stabbed to death in a wooded area in the hills outside the city two years ago.

It is understood that the women, who were regular visitors to the resort of Kusadasi, were friendly with Recep Cetin, a waiter who had allegedly begun a relationship with Ms Graham's daughter Shannon.

It is reported that Recep had driven the two women north for a supposed shopping trip but the women's bodies were later found with multiple stab wounds.

Recep has previously confessed to the crimes, but his father is accused of also being involved in the murders.

The trial has been delayed, initially because Recep was revealed to be 22-years-old, despite his claims to be only 17. In addition, despite a claim by the young man to have been suffering from mental illness, his father was mistakenly ordered to undergo clinical assessment.

The trial will resume on 9 September.
