Praveen Halappanavar To Take Legal Action Against HSE

Solicitors for Praveen Halappanavar have announced that he will take High Court legal action against the Health Service Executive in connection with the death of his wife, Savita, in October last year.

Solicitor Gerard O'Donnell said the HSE will be issued with legal proceedings next week for alleged negligence in the death of Savita Halappanavar, who died in Galway University Hospital following a miscarriage in the 17th week of her pregnancy.

An inquest in April found that Savita died as a result of medical misadventure.

Mr O'Donnell said that should the HSE defend their action in the case being brought by Praveen, there would be a full cross-examination of witnesses.
