Gardai Appeal For Witnesses Following M4 Incident

Gardaí at Mullingar are investigating an incident which occurred on the M4, one km from Kinnegad on the eastbound lane at approximately 4pm yesterday, Monday 24th June.

It appears from initial investigations that a car, believed to be a dark coloured Opel Zafira, caught fire.

A man believed to be in his early 50s was found deceased in the car.

Investigating officers are appealing to motorists who may have seen this car drive in an erratic manner on the M4 yesterday afternoon or who may have information pertaining to the incident to contact the Gardaí at Mullingar 044-9384000, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda Station.

Pensioner Dies After Falling Into A Fireplace
A pensioner has died after falling in to a fireplace which was lit. The incident took place at a house in Ballina just before 10.30pm. It is believed the 92-year-old woman did not die of fire-related injuries. Gardai are currently investigating, however they are not treating the death as suspicious.

Questioning Of 'Tiger Kidnap' Suspects Continue
Two men are still being held in connection with a Tiger Kidnapping that occurred last October in west Dublin. The men, aged in their 30s and 40s, were arrested yesterday in Phibsboro and Crumlin by gardaí investigating the kidnapping which involved the abduction of a female bank official and her family in the Lucan area of the capital.
