Pensioner Dies After Falling Into A Fireplace

A pensioner has died after falling in to a fireplace which was lit.

The incident took place at a house in Ballina just before 10.30pm.

It is believed the 92-year-old woman did not die of fire-related injuries.

Gardai are currently investigating, however they are not treating the death as suspicious.

Man Released Over Attack On Pensioner
Gardai have released a man following an assault on a pensioner in Limerick. The 89-year-old woman was attacked outside her house on Rossbrien Road on Sunday night. The man made off with the woman's handbag which contained a small sum of money. The woman sustained serious injuries and is currently being treated in hospital.

Pensioner Dies In House Fire
A man, 74, has died in a house fire in Rathcormac, County Cork. It is unclear how the fire began, however gardai say they are not treating it as suspicious. Fire crews arrived at the scene after they were alerted at approximately 7.45pm on Sunday evening.
