Man Arrested Following Betting Shop Robbery

Gardaí at Mill Street in Galway are investigating an armed robbery in a Briarhill Betting Shop yesterday.

A lone raider entered Briarhill Shopping Centre with a sawn off shotgun, demanded cash and left with an undisclosed amount of money.

In a follow-up operation Gardaí arrested a 21-year-old man, recovered a firearm and cash nearby. A green BMW car believed to be associated with this incident was located at Ballybrit Heights.

The man is currently detained at Mill Street Garda Station.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious at the Briarhill Shopping Centre between 4pm and 5pm yesterday or at Ballybrit Heights to contact the incident room at Galway.

Missing 25-Year-Old Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A 25-year-old man who was missing from Harcourt Street in Dublin has been found safe and well, Gardaí have reported. Simon Quinn was reported missing after last being seen at around 2.30am on Monday, 30 July. However, Mr Quinn has now been found and Gardaí said they wish to thank the media and public for their assistance.

An investigation has been launched into the death of a man in County Wicklow who suffered from a suspected stab wound last night. Gardaí in Arklow are investigating the curious incident in which the man in his mid 40s died at approximately 8.00pm yesterday evening.

Two Arrested Over Waterford Armed Robbery
Gardaí have made two arrests in connection with an armed robbery in Waterford on Thursday night. According to gardaí, a man entered a shop at around 11.55pm and produced a handgun, where he then threatened staff and demanded cash. Staff at the shop managed to raise the alarm and the man fled, making his escape in a waiting dark-coloured car.

Cocaine And Cannabis Seized In Co Kildare
Cocaine and cannabis herb worth an estimated €34,000 has been seized in Moone, Co Kildare. As part of a planned search of a premises at Lower Belan, garda uncovered €14,000 worth of cocaine and €20,000 worth of cannabis, shortly before midnight on Sunday, 12 June.

Head Shop Fire Turns Up €500,000
The fire at a Dublin 'head shop' last week has lead to the discovery of €500,000 in cash under the building's floorboards, it has been revealed. Gardaí said today they are treating the fire at the legal drug supplying store as arson. The fire almost completely destroyed the unit and a number of neighbouring outlets last Friday.
