Top RTÉ Executive Steps Down

Managing director of RTÉ Radio, Clare Duignan, is to stand down from her role as one of the company’s top executives.

Ending a 35 years career with the station she decided the decision to leave as "one of the hardest things I have ever done".

According to the Irish Independent RTÉ have said that she could have continued in her role but that she chose to not renewed her contract.

Ms Duignan is the second high-profile departure from the station in recent weeks after John McMahon left as head of 2FM last month.

Jim Jennings, head of RTE Radio One, will take up an interim role as managing director for RTE Radio, the Irish Independent have reported.
