Verdict Due On Dr Molestation Allegations

The verdict of the Medical Council's fitness-to-practise committee is due in the case of an anaesthetist who allegedly kissed and molested a female patient.

Dr Hossam Desoky faces allegations of professional misconduct and/or poor professional performance.

It is alleged the doctor locked a female patient into his on-call private room at South Tipperary General Hospital in 2010, where the then kissed and molested her.

Dr Desoky denies the ten allegations.

The inquiry earlier this month lasted two days and followed allegations made by the patient, Ms Teri Chamberlain.

Taxi Seized In Rape Investigation
A taxi has been seized by gardaí following allegations made by a female student that the driver raped her in the early hours of Tuesday morning. According to gardaí a 20-year-old woman has claimed that she was raped by her taxi driver as she tried to make her way home at around 02:00 on Tuesday.

More than 58,000 patient safety incidents occurred in Irish hospitals in 2017, according to new figures provided to Fianna Fáil.
