Gun Find Leads To Arrest Of Two
Two men, arrested carrying two handguns in Cork city on Sunday afternoon, are being question by garda in connection with dissident republican activity.
A follow up operation has seen garda search a number of homes and businesses.
The two men were arrested after Garda became suspicious of a van being driven in the Togher area around 16.10 on Sunday.
The van was stopped and a search turned up the two handguns.
The men, one in his 30s and one in his 40s, were taken to Togher Garda Station.
They are being questioned about dissident republican activity and membership of the IRA.
The white van, which the men were driving has been taken to a secure location and is being forensically examined, while the two handguns will also undergo ballistics testing.

Two Men Held Over Betting Shop Raid
Gardaí last night arrested two men and recovered a large cash sum after two raiders held up a bookmakers shop in Tower, near Blarney. Two men armed with handguns and wearing balaclavas held up Connollys Bookmakers at 5.30pm yesterday. They made off with €5,000 making their getaway by car, a silver Volkswagen Golf.

Over €2m Worth Of Drugs Seized In Dublin
More than €2 million worth of drugs have been seized by Gardaí in Donaghmede, Dublin. Cannabis resin, cannabis herb and cocaine, worth and estimated €2.1 million were seized as part of an operation targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in North Dublin.

Gardaí in Dublin have arrested a man in connection with a cash-in-transit van robbery early on Friday morning. It is understood that a number of armed men held up the van at about 07:40am on Cork Street in Dublin, making off with a sum of money.

Arrest Made In Dissident Republican Investigation
A man has been arrested in Co Meath in connection with an ongoing garda investigation into dissident republican activity. The arrest followed a planned search of a business premises in Navan, from which three handguns, assorted ammunition and other paraphernalia was recovered.

Two Men Arrested After 'Assassination Kit' Found In Stolen Car
Two men have been arrested after an "assassination kit" was discovered in a stolen car in north Dublin, according to Gardai. Two handguns, ammunition and a canister of petrol were also found during a vehicle search. The car had been stolen on 06 August. Two men were arrested in connection with the incident.
