Pedestrian Killed In Road Traffic Crash

Gardai are appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on Crawford Ave Dublin 9 yesterday.

The collision occurred at approximately 6.35pm between a car and a pedestrian on Crawford Ave with the junction on Iona Rd.

The pedestrian, 90, was seriously injured in the collision and taken by ambulance to the Mater hospital where she later passed away in the early hours of this morning. The female driver, 26, who was the sole occupant in the car was uninjured in the collision.

The road was closed for a Forensic collision examination and re-opened at 12.30am.

Gardai are appealing for witness or anyone who may have information to contact the Gardai in Mountjoy 01 6668600, the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

John Gallagher, 55, and his 24-year-old son Sean died when their car collided with another vehicle at Burt on Saturday morning. Galway Road Re-Opens Following Fatal Crash
Gardai have confirmed the Maam Cross to Galway road has now reopened at Ballinahown, after a fatal crash occurred overnight. A male pedestrian in his 60s was killed after he was hit by a car. Witnesses are being asked to contact gardai in Salthill.

Three Young Males Killed In Separate Crashes
Ireland's roads have been a theatre of tragedy for three young men this weekend, after a string of fatalities. In the most recent incident, a man aged 27 was fatally injured when the SUV and trailer he was driving crashed at Shangort, Partry, Castlebar. There was no other vehicle involved in the crash.

Dunleer Crash Victims Named
The woman and son killed in County Louth yesterday after their car collided with a wall have been named. Leontina Covaci (35 years) and Ezacheal Covaci (9 years) of Rivervale Grove, Dunleer, Co. Louth, died at around 2.30pm along the old M1, south of Castlebellingham.
