Pedestrians Die In Separate Road Accidents

Ireland's roads have claimed the lives of two pedestrians over the weekend as a result of two separate incidents.

In the latest incident, a male pedestrian aged in his 50s was fatally injured when struck by a passing motor car.

The collision is believed to be connected to an earlier minor collision which occurred some minutes earlier at the same location.

Gardai at Rathkeale are investigating the fatal collision which occurred on the N21 at Coolanoran, Ardagh, Co Limerick at approximately 7.30pm on last night.

Traffic diversions are currently in place and Forensic Collision Investigators are at the scene.

In an earlier incident on Friday, a pedestrian was struck by a motor car on the north bound carriageway of the M1 in the towns land of Commons near Castlebellingham, Co Louth. The pedestrian, a man aged 37 years, died at the scene.

Officers have named the as Adrian Durr from Banbridge, County Down. His family have been informed.

Gardai at Ardee have also launched an investigation, which occurred on Friday at approximately 8.50pm.

The scene has been examined by Forensic Collision Investigators and the motorway has since re-opened to traffic.

Two Dead In Separate Collisions
Two people have died on Ireland's roads after traffic collisions in Dublin and Kilkenny in the last two days. In the latest incident, a male aged 19 was fatally injured when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a stationary vehicle. His body was taken to Tallaght Hospital.

Dunleer Crash Victims Named
The woman and son killed in County Louth yesterday after their car collided with a wall have been named. Leontina Covaci (35 years) and Ezacheal Covaci (9 years) of Rivervale Grove, Dunleer, Co. Louth, died at around 2.30pm along the old M1, south of Castlebellingham.
