CSO Figures Show Drop In Unemployment

New figures from the Central Statistics Office show the rate of unemployment dropped to 14.6% in November, down from 14.7% the previous month.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the number of people on the Live Register was 432,300 in November; a monthly decrease of 1,500.

The number of long-term claimants in November increased on an annual basis by 3.7% to 186,562.

The number of male long-term claimants increased by 1,358 (1%) in the year to November, while the comparable increase for females was 5,314 (10.7%).

In November 55.3% (230,715) of all claimants on the Live Register were short-term claimants.

The comparable figure for November 2011 was 58.1% (249,677).

Fewer Sign On To Live Register In November
Latest figures by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), have revealed that there were 4,100 fewer people signing onto the live register last month, on a seasonally adjusted basis. The seasonally adjusted unemployment total fell to 367,100. In unadjusted terms, 352,647 people signed on – an annual decrease of 38,860, to 352,647.

Fall In Live Register Numbers In February
There has been a slight fall in the number of people on the Live Register in February, it has been revealed. According to the latest information published by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), seasonally adjusted figures reveal that the number of people on the Live Register fell by 2,700 last month to 321,000. This was a percentage fall of 0.8%.

New Figures Show Extent Of Overseas Benefit Claimants
Some €300 million was paid out last year to claimants not living in Ireland, the Irish Independent has reported. The Department of Social Protection made the payments to people living abroad including Brazil, Cyprus and Malaysia. Pension payments accounted for almost €260 million of the total payouts, newly released figures have revealed.

Minister Welcomes Fall In Live Register Figures
The latest Live Register figures, released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), show that the standard unemployment rate in Ireland is now 10%. This represents a fall in the number of people on the Live Register of 1.8% on the previous month, and continues a trend of a reduction in the levels of people signing on.

Slight Rise As Dole Queue Hits 14.5%
Hundreds more people are registered unemployed with news today that Central Statistics Office (CSO) data shows the number of people on the Live Register in November hit 448,600, a rise of 1,700. That means the unemployment rate in the Irish Republic rose slightly to 14.5% in November up from 14.4% in October.
