Live Register Numbers Fall In July

Latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) reveal that the number of people signing on the Live Register fell in July.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, there were 3,200 fewer people signing on.

This reduced the total number on the Live Register to 419,200 and marked a decline for the 13th consecutive month.

It is now at its lowest level since April 2010.

In unadjusted terms, a total of 441,976 people were signing on the Live Register in July, a fall of 4% on an annual basis. This is a monthly decrease of 2,200 males signing on this month, with a decrease of 900 women.

The CSO added that the number of long-term claimants on the Live Register was 197,571 in July, with the number of male long term claimants falling by 3.7% in the year to July while the number of women claimants increased by 4.7%.

There were also 87,419 casual and part-time workers on the Live Register, accounting for 19.8% of the total register.

In the year to July, the number of people aged 25 and over fell by 2.7% and the number of people aged under 25 fell by 10.1%.

According to the latest information published by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), seasonally adjusted figures reveal that the number of people on the Live Register fell by 2,700 last month to 321,000. This was a percentage fall of 0.8%.

Live Register Decreases By 2,300 In July
On a seasonally adjusted basis the Live Register total recorded a monthly decrease of 2,300 in July 2012, bringing the total to 437,300, according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO). The standardised unemployment rate (SUR) in July 2012 was 14.8%, unchanged from the latest June 2012 rate.
