Two Attacked With Knives And Hammers In Dublin City Centre

Two men are being treated in hospital following a violent attack in Dublin city centre in the early hours of Friday morning.

One man, originally from China, is in a critical condition in the Mater Hospital after he was attacked outside a restaurant on Capel Street around 2am.

It is understood that up to eight men with hammers, knives and possibly a machete, attacked the man, who sustained serious injuries to his head, back and leg.

The second man, who is also Chinese, was admitted a short time later, but his condition is not life-threatening.

Gardaí have launched an investigation and are trying to establish a motive for the attack.

They are examining CCTV footage, and have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information, particularly people from the Chinese community, to contact them at Store Street Garda Station.

Man Attacked In Dublin
A man is being treated in hospital after being stabbed in Dublin on Sunday night. The 29-year-old man was taken to the Beaumount Hospital following the attack which happened on Glin Road, Coolock. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Gardai are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

An elderly man who was assaulted in Dublin over the weekend remains in critical condition in hospital. The victim, aged in his 70s, was attacked near the Courtney Place flats in Ballybough in the early hours of Saturday morning, 17 August.

Man Stabbed In Dublin City Centre
Gardai are appealing for witnesses after a man was attacked in Dublin city centre at around 5.40pm on Monday. The victim was attacked by four men as he stood under the Crann an Oir monument on Dame Street. He suffered serious stab wounds to his face and stomach and he is currently in St James's Hospital where his condition is described as critical.

Man Dies In Limerick Collision
A man has died in a crash in Co Limerick. The car veered off the road and hit a ditch at Dromsallagh at around 4.15am on Sunday, 05 June. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man is currently being treated for his injuries at the University Hospital Limerick. The road has been re-opened.

Man Shot By Gang In Dublin
A 20-year-old man has been shot in the Ballyfermot area of west Dublin overnight. According to Gardaí, a gang of men attacked the victim, who is from the Ballyfermot area, on the grounds behind the Cherry Orchard Hospital around 10.00pm. The attackers shot the man in the lower body, before making their getaway in two cars.
